  1. [...] have been giving the listeners a campaign frame. Check out episodes 190: To Slay a Dragon and 196: The Monster’s Rights Movement for their most recent foray into campaign frames. If RPG’s aren’t your thing [...]

  2. Hurray for the triumphant return of Darryl! It was marred only by the fact that there was no Darryl in it. Maybe he doesn’t have much to say on the topic of campaign creation because he’s not a GM? With some thought, I think you can use that fact to your advantage the next time you do one of these campaign seed episodes.
One pitfall of your current method is that you’re developing a campaign without player input. You have to rely upon manipulative plot contrivances and sweeping assumptions about the players to make your story fit together — not a problem while you’re just sitting around planning a campaign, but a bad habit at the table, and one I don’t think you guys really have. So next time, why don’t you have Darryl play the part of the player? Have him decide based on the premise what sort of character he’d play (that way you’re designing for at least one specific PC concept, not a wholly generic party), then ask him what his character would do at those troublesome “branch points”? That way, we in the audience can hear you doing the sort of improvisational work that is just as important to a campaign as the meticulous pre-planning that has dominated the campaign seed episodes so far.

  3. I think you’ve found your groups strength in ‘brain storming’ campaigns. I would love to see more in this series!
